Chip Brown is one of the strongest players on our team.  Chip smashes the ball in batting practice and once he develops confidence in game situations, the outfielders better back-up.  Otherwise, we will only see their uniform backs as they run to the fence to chase the ball.

Chip has more bases-on-balls than any other player on our team, but once he begins to swing the bat with authority he will become our most powerful hitter.

Chip has a great swing and once he develops confidence he will become a great power hitter.

Chip has made several outstanding plays in the outfield in getting the ball back to the infield quickly.  In one instance, he saved the team a couple of runs by getting to a soft liner over the first baseman's head, quickly.  The ball barely stayed fair and rolled out of bounds in the outfield.  Chip got to the ball quickly, got it back into the infield, and limited the player to a double, rather than a triple.

Chip could also become a good catcher, as he continues to develop, but he is too valuable as a right-fielder at this time.  At this age (and with our pitchers), more balls are hit to the right side of the infield/outfield than any other area.  You must have a right fielder that can catch, and get the ball back to the infield quickly.

Chip got his first base hit in a recent game and all the coaches were (almost) as happy for Chip as he was.  He was on cloud nine and Steve Phillips had to keep tugging at his feet to keep him planted on first base.  As Chip got to first base, he could not understand why Steve would not loan him his cell phone, so he could call Grandma and Grand dad.
