Donations (For Equipment)

The Westside Athletic Association is one of the best community Associations in Whitfield County.  It is managed entirely by community Volunteers.  Much of the funding we receive is distributed to the Westside Athletic Association through Federal, State, and County taxes.

As you know, tax cuts have negatively affected every segment of local government, and very few funds are available for youth athletic associations.  While there seems to be plenty of funds to build prisons, local youth program funding has been cut.

Each Westside Youth participant pays a fee of $35 to offset some of the costs of community program management. $20 of this fee goes directly to each team for the purchase of uniforms.  After the $200 our 10 parents paid for uniforms, there remains a balance of more than $550.  This leaves a balance of about $55 per player.

We ask that any parent that can make a donation, please do so.  If you work for a company that can make a donation, ask them if it is possible.  We would be happy to display their logo as a team supporter on the website.

  • Don Anderson of Carpet Discount Center was kind enough to provide a donation of $150 to help off-set the remaining balance.
  • Brian and Kim Ownbey have been kind enough to contribute $100 to this fund.
  • Michael and TeQuita Hilton through Polar Ice Express have agreed to donate an additional $100.
  • Shaw Industries donated an additional $50.
  • Another anonymous donor has agreed to make a contribution for which the amount is unknown.
  • Steve and Debra Phillips made a considerable contribution in purchasing catchers equipment for team use.

With these donations of $350,  a balance of $150 remains to pay uniform costs, which will divided among the remaining 7 players.

Uniforms are only the beginning of equipment that we need.  The equipment bag we now use is essentially left over from our Tee Ball days.  Helmets do not have face masks which are required for kids pitch, we have very few baseballs, and we have no bats other than personal bats.

We are actively seeking donations from businesses or players parents to help some of our less fortunate players pay the costs of their uniforms.  We also would  like to purchase additional equipment including balls, a new catchers mitt, extra helmets with face masks, and possibly ( in a perfect world) matching bat bags for each player.  We have other immediate equipment needs, as well.

In addition, tournament season is just around the corner, and should we decide to participate in any tournaments, additional costs will be involved.

If you, or any business you know would be willing to make a contribution to our team, please let one of our coaches know.  Our uniform invoice is now due and we have immediate equipment needs.
