2007 Early Bird TournamentIf our first game in the Early Bird Tournament is any indication of how our year will be, it looks like I will be refilling that Prilosec prescription often. I was very proud of our boys and how they played. For our first game, it looked as if we will have a fun year. We got some very bad news before game time and the news got worse after the game was completed. Garrett Kelly broke his foot (in four places) in a playground accident in after school care. It just goes to show that see-saws and little girls don't mix. Garrett, without question, was our most improved hitter from last year to this year, and we had planned to move him into the #5 spot in our line-up. The early bird tournament is actually just a tune-up for the regular season. From a season standpoint, it is probably best to lose early, and make your way through the loser's bracket, since you get to play more games. A first round loser could end up playing 8 games, while a team that goes undefeated ends up playing only 4 games for the entire tournament.
