2007 Cubs Team Mid-Season PartyTypically, we have a team party for Cubs players after the
season is over. We
Team parties are great for building team cohesiveness. We already have seen significant improvement in this area. Several of the Cubs requested that we have an overnight
campout. This sounds like fun. Weather permitting,
we are scheduling
this campout for Saturday, May 19. Our back-up date will be Saturday, June 2
should we get rained out. We will simply pitch tents in the Hilton
backyard. We will try to secure a Westside practice field for 3:00 (rather
than 4:00) and leave for the "swamp" directly from practice. The boys should pack swim wear (pool) and any fishing gear (pond) they would like to use for fishing, a lawn chair, a sleeping bag, and a pillow. They also should bring their baseball glove/bat in case a neighborhood ball game breaks out. We will grill hamburgers, hotdogs, build a bonfire to toast
marshmallows and the boys will camp in 2-3 large tents. We will have
plenty of adult supervision and a very gentle, extremely protective Black
Labrador Retriever to keep the local
For some boys who may still be a bit squeamish about camping
or staying away from home, there will be plenty of room inside the house or we
can discreetly arrange for them to be picked up. This will probably be the
first camp-out for many, so we never know what to expect.

this year we are planning a party for the boys during the season (as well as
after the season).
